OUTDOOR AMENITIES AT THE GTM RESEARCH RESERVE ARE NOW OPEN DURING NORMAL OPERATING HOURS. THIS INCLUDES: NORTH, MIDDLE AND SOUTH BEACHES, GUANA TRAILS, AND THE GUANA DAM.
WHEN VISITING ALL GTM AMENITIES: KEEP SIX FEET BETWEEN YOU AND OTHERS. LIMIT GROUPS TO 10 OR LESS. LIMIT CONTACT WITH SURFACES AND STAY HOME IF YOU FEEL SICK. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN FURTHER CLOSURES. WHEN VISITING TRAILS, ALERT OTHERS AS YOU PASS ON THE LEFT.
NOTICE: RESTROOMS AT THE GUANA DAM ARE CURRENTLY UNDERGOING RENOVATIONS. PORT-A-LET IS LOCATED AT THE DAM UNTIL RENOVATIONS ARE COMPLETE. RESTROOMS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE AT THE GUANA TRAILHEAD.
ALL GTM EVENTS, INCLUDING ADVENTURES IN THE ESTUARY SUMMER CAMP, HAVE BEEN POSTPONED OR CANCELLED, AND THE GTM VISITOR CENTER IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Sea Turtle nesting season is underway along our Florida beaches. Our Turtle Patrol is out on GTM beaches early each morning to monitor and protect these precious creatures, and we are beyond excited to hear about all the activity already happening. How can you not be? Sea turtles are adorable and amazing to see, but that is not the only reason we work so hard to protect them.
A world without sea turtles may be a world in which we struggle to survive.
Sea turtles are one of only a few animals that eat sea grass and keep it healthy. Sea grass beds are the breeding and development grounds for many species of fish, shellfish, and crustaceans. Without the beds, species we like to harvest for food would decline. Without sea turtles, the grass beds would decline, and all the other species dependent upon them would decline. If you lose one, the rest will eventually follow.

Help protect sea turtles by adopting a nest today.
The Adopt a Nest program funds ongoing research and monitoring of Atlantic Green, Loggerhead, and Leatherback sea turtles who come to North Florida beaches to nest annually. The Turtle Patrol, an all-volunteer initiative, monitors nesting activity, marks nests, and reports on false crawls, successful nests, and number of sea turtle eggs. Proceeds from the program go toward needed equipment, materials, and supplies.
The volunteers could not accomplish what they do without the support of our Turtle Parents. Not only do our adopting Parents support this important work, but they also receive customized reports on their special nest. Our Proud Turtle Parents can even witness an evening nest evaluation with a sea turtle specialist. Parents truly become part of our turtle family.
Nest adoption season is May 1 to July 31. Turtle nests are limited, so we encourage those interested in adoption to do so quickly. Adoption levels are: Turtle Buddy at the $100 level, Turtle Bestie at the $250 level, and Proud Turtle Parent at the $500 level.
